The versatility of the SawStop Professional Cabinet Saw (PCS)

What’s the right model for me?

With the many accessories and add-ons for the SawStop Professional Cabinet Saw available you are spoilt for choice in finding your ideal saw, but to help make it easier we’ve put together a list of five typical configurations woodworkers are choosing for their shop be that as a hobbyist or a professional woodworker.

The All-Purpose Workhorse – the standard configuration

Ideal for: General woodworkers and high-end hobbyists who need a reliable, all-round table saw for diverse projects.

Includes: The PCS is renowned for it’s build quality as well as it’s safety, and for the European market we include as standard the most commonly upgraded elements from the US market – it’s fitted with a powerful 3HP / 2.200W induction motor, the rock-solid T-Glide Advance fence system, a small outfeed table, a zero clearance insert plate and the Overarm Dust Collection system with the excellent MicroGuard. It’s ready to handle up to 36 inches / 900mm of rip capacity but all versions can be upgraded to the 52 inch / 1300mm model.

Standout features: This base setup is often called the “workhorse of every workshop,” delivering best-in-class cutting performance with unmatched fit and finish. It’s engineered for accuracy and durability, making it a perfect one-saw solution for a lifetime of woodworking projects, capable of tackling everything from fine joinery to heavy-duty rip cuts with confidence. In short, the Standard PCS provides robust power, precision, and safety right out of the box – an ideal foundation that the following specialized configurations build upon.

The Joinery Master – Dado-ready configuration

Ideal for: Woodworkers and cabinet makers who require advanced joinery capabilities (dados, grooves, tenons) while maintaining safety and dust control.

Includes: In this configuration a high-capacity Floating Overarm Dust Collection Guard is used, and the additional components for cutting dados are provided – a larger brake and dado-ready insert, as well as our 8-inch premium dado blades. With these accessories the saw can be equipped to make dado or trench cuts legally and safely within European regulations by providing additional protection, adding another layer of versatility to your woodworking capabilities.

Standout features: This configuration demonstrates the PCS’s versatility in precision joinery work. With the dado insert and blade, you can mill clean, flat-bottom grooves and dadoes with ease (the included 8-inch dado set is engineered for clean, precise cuts. The Floating Overarm Dust Collection Guard ensures that even with wide dado cuts, debris is captured effectively, and the operator remains safe. In essence, the Joinery Master setup transforms the saw into a dado-cutting powerhouse, ideal for crafting cabinetry, bookshelves, drawers and other furniture with interlocking joints – all while upholding SawStop’s stringent safety standards.

Large-Capacity Cabinet Maker – Extended rip capacity and sliding table system

Ideal for: Small professional shops and serious woodworkers who frequently work with large panels (e.g. plywood sheets) and need capability for long, precise cuts as well as crosscutting capability.

Includes: Upgraded rip capacity to the right of the blade with the 52 inch / 1300 mm rail kit and adding the Sliding Crosscut Table maximize the cutting capabilities of the saw to handle big sheets. The Sliding Crosscut Table mounts to the left of the blade, providing up to 48 inches / 1250 mm of crosscut capacity for large workpieces and you can choose to either keep or remove the left-hand cast-iron wing – bringing the sliding bed closer to the blade for maximum precision, or keeping extra support for bigger, heavier workpieces. To support these additions, the saw is paired with the Industrial Mobile Base, a heavy-duty mobility platform that stabilizes the larger table and makes repositioning easy (it supports up to 450 kg for even the biggest saws). An optional folding outfeed table can further enhance the safe handling of long boards and panels.

Standout features: This configuration turns the PCS into a panel processing champion. The 52 inch / 1300 mm fence rails enable ripping wide boards or splitting full 4×8 (1250×2500 mm) sheets, crucial for cabinet carcasses and furniture components. Meanwhile, the precision Sliding Crosscut Table delivers smooth and accurate cuts on large crosscuts – it glides on multiple bearings for low-friction travel and even allows mitering big panels up to ±60° with detents for common angles. Despite the increased size, the Industrial Mobile Base ensures the whole setup can be moved by one person with ease (the hydraulic lift and 360° casters let you tuck the saw against a wall when not in use). The Large-Capacity Cabinetmaker configuration showcases the saw’s ability to take on full-scale professional projects – from breaking down plywood to accurate crosscutting of large stock – all with one versatile machine.

Space-Saver – Maximising capabilities in small workshops

Ideal for: High-end hobbyists and small workshop owners who need a full-featured cabinet saw in a limited space, with the ability to easily store or relocate it.

Includes: For those with limited space we’d recommend using the Industrial Mobile base and the Folding Outfeed Table add-on. The mobile base uses a hydraulic lift and four independent swivelling casters for smooth manoeuvring on any flat surface, enabling you to tuck the saw into the tightest of spaces. The Folding Outfeed Table attaches to the rear of the saw to catch workpieces after the cut when raised or drops down keeping the footprint of the saw as small as possible when not in use. Notably, both the integrated base and outfeed table are designed to be compatible, so the table can remain attached and just fold away when moving the saw. A high-quality mitre gauge such as our Revolution Mitre Guage can also help maximize cross-cutting capabilities without the space for a sliding table add-on.

Standout features: This setup emphasises maximised functionality in minimal space. You get all the benefits of the PCS (power, accuracy, safety) but with enhanced portability and space management. One person can effortlessly wheel the saw out from a corner when it’s time to work and then tuck it back away afterward – perfect for a garage workshop or a multi-use space. The folding outfeed gives you the support needed for long cuts or large pieces yet preserves precious floor space when folded down. In a nutshell, the Space-Saver configuration delivers full-shop capability in a footprint that suits small shops, without compromising on stability or safety.

Fine Woodworking – Supporting fine furniture with precision tools

Ideal for: Woodworkers (pro or hobbyist) focused on fine furniture, trim, and exacting detail work – where micro-accuracy and repeatability are paramount.

Includes: The core PCS saw can be supplemented with precision accessories like SawStop’s Revolution Miter Gauge upgrade for small cross-cutting work, or the Sliding Crosscut Table for larger and heavier workpieces. The Revolution Miter Gauge brings extremely precise dial-in angle control, featuring a geared micro-adjustment that lets you set angles in 1°, 1/2°, 1/4°, or even 1/10° increments with a positive click at each step. This gauge also has an adjustable fence with a flip stop, ensuring repeat cuts are dead-on every time. If your work is focused on larger, more demanding and longer cross-cuts, the Sliding Crosscut Table is invaluable to be able to handle those pieces safely and accurately – it will slide up to 48 inches / 1250mm before the blade in its maximum configuration and can be configured to have the sliding bed very close to the blade if needed for maximum precision.   Additionally, using SawStop’s premium 60-tooth or 80-tooth titanium blades will help creating extremely accurate cuts on hardwood or veneered materials.

Standout features: In this configuration, the PCS can be setup for absolute precision. It showcases how the saw can cater to fine woodworking tasks like fitting tenons, cutting perfect mitres for picture frames, or doing high-end trim work. The advanced Revolution Mitre Gauge or Sliding Crosscut Table virtually eliminates guesswork in cutting angles, elevating the accuracy to a new level. Combined with the saw’s inherent stability and powerful 3HP motor, these upgrades give craftsmen the confidence to execute intricate projects (such as fine furniture joinery or complex geometric cuts) with surgical precision. The Fine-Woodworking setup underlines the PCS’s versatility in delivering not just power, but also accuracy and finesse for the most exacting woodworking applications.
