Does activation damage the saw?

SawStop saws are designed to absorb the force of activation and are not damaged by it.

Can I replace the brake cartridge myself?

Yes, replacing the brake cartridge can be done by the user. We provide instructional videos and manuals on our website to guide you through the process.

Can the blade be reused if the safety system brake is activated?

When the safety system activates, it will sometimes damage one or more teeth on the blade. Some users discard and replace the blade, while others choose to have their blades inspected/repaired by a qualified specialist.

Will cutting green or ‘wet’ wood activate the SawStop safety system?

SawStop saws cut most wet wood without a problem. However, if the wood is very green or wet (for example, wet enough to spray a mist when cutting), or if the wood is both wet and pressure treated, then the wood may be sufficiently conductive to activate the brake. If you are unsure whether the material you need to cut is conductive, you can make test cuts using Bypass Mode to determine if it will activate the safety system’s brake. The red light on the control box will flash to indicate conductivity. If the material is conductive, you can choose to operate the saw in Bypass Mode which will disengage the saw’s safety system’s brake feature and allow you to continue cutting the material.

What are the main differences between the Compact Table Saw and Jobsite Saw Pro?

While both saws offer SawStop’s industry-leading safety and performance, there are several key differences to consider based on your needs for portability, precision, and job site functionality:

Weight & Portability

The Compact Table Saw weighs just 68 lbs (31 kg), making it easier to transport and lift. It features an integrated carry handle for on-the-go use. In contrast, the Jobsite Saw Pro weighs 84 lbs (38 kg) and includes a built-in mobile cart for rolling mobility on site.

Rip Capacity

The Compact Table Saw offers a 24½” rip capacity, while the Jobsite Saw Pro offers slightly more at 25½”, ideal for handling wider materials.

Fence System

The Compact Table Saw uses a rack & pinion fence for smooth, precise adjustments. The Jobsite Saw Pro features a self-squaring T-style fence with Ergolock, which glides easily and locks firmly in place.

Blade Elevation

The Compact Table Saw has a multi-turn elevation system, offering fine-tuned control. The Jobsite Saw Pro features a one-turn elevation, allowing for quick and efficient height adjustments.

Blade Guard & Dust Collection

The Compact Saw comes with a standard blade guard, while the Jobsite Pro includes an advanced dust-collection blade guard to capture debris above the table more effectively.

What is the motor and power of the JSS?

Unlike the Compact Table Saw, the Jobsite Saw Pro uses a belt drive motor. There are several advantages to a belt drive motor including noise and vibration suppression. The wattage is 2000W.

Can I remove the mobile cart or buy it without?

You can easily remove the mobile cart in order to build into a workbench, and anti-slip feet will provide stability on a flat surface. The open cell base will enable any excess dust to fall out and not get stuck within the saw body.

The mobile base is included in every Jobsite Saw box and it can’t be bought without it.

How good is the Jobsite Pro fence system?

The Jobsite T-Glide fence has been engineered to auto-square on lock-down, which requires a wheel-floated back end of the fence. While the user may be able to grasp and wiggle the end of the fence when it is properly adjusted and locked down, rest assured that extensive field testing has shown this does not impact the accuracy of the cut since the point of cut at the front of the blade is stable. In fact, the net result is superior to other “field” fences, as the aligned fence will not lock down out-of-square and glides smoothly on adjustment.

How good is the dust collection on the JSS?

Many people are upgrading to the JSS for it’s superior dust collection capability, with dust collection both from the top 36mm port on the MicroGuard and the 50mm (with 36mm adapter) on the saw body. We paid particular attention to improve this feature vs other site saws where dust collection guards often don’t work well, quickly get fogged up, and are then not used. The included zero clearance insert plate also adds to the performance and helps to keep the majority of dust above the table and ready to be taken away through the MicroGuard.
